OCTOBER DIRT SERIES AT THE DIRT TRACK!

CARMAGEDDON ROCKS THE HIGH BANKS!

I-70 SPEEDWAY ( 08-25-07 ) – Carmageddon Night at the high banks tonight gave fans thrills, spills, chills and more destruction, explosions and excitement than fans could ask for. Dr. Danger highlighted the event with Monster Trucks and more. Mod-Lites provided some dirt racing action as well.

In the finale of the evening Dr. Danger took off on the back stretch rounded turns three and four hit the front stretch doing max speed in his yellow “short” bus. As he approached the ramp his bus burst into flames from the rear-end and a huge explosion occurred after he left the ramp crashing into a stack of cars in a mass of flames. Dr. Danger quickly emerged from the carnage un-harmed to the cheers of the crowd estimated at over 4,000 fans.

Liberty Smith – just 8 years old treated the fans to a spectacular rendition of the Star Spangled banner and when she finished received a much deserved standing ovation from the packed grandstand.

In school bus race action Dr Danger faced off against Joey “Super Truck” Frey, Joe Wilcoxson and Brad “Super Stock” Johnson. The trio battled lap after lap changing the lead back and forth until the final lap when Dr. Danger’s rear-end exploded in a ball of fire and Danger made the charge for the front of the pack. Joey Frey used a late brush to best Danger at the line. Danger was runner-up, Wilcoxson was third and Johnson was unable to make the race.

In Monster Truck racing heat action it was Barbarian over Monster Patrol and Samson over Wild Thang. Arena truck heat action was Thunderstruck over Wild Thing. Wild Thing’s event ended as he flipped nose first over at the end of the event ending upside down. In consolation action Monster Patrol bested Wild Thang. Samson won the feature event over Barbarian. In freestyle Monster Truck competition – Barbarian topped Monster Patrol in fan voting.

Boat and Trailer racing was a rolling demolition derby as twelve competitors hit the track with trailers consisting of anything from motorcycles, boats and even a popup trailer. The word of the night was CARNAGE as from the drop of the green flag trailers, cars and parts flew everywhere. After 8 laps of destruction it was anyone’s quess who the winner was. In actual racing Wade Sherman was declared the winner of the event after Melford Simpson lost his boat and trailer on the final lap. In popular fan voting - the fans declared Tyler Wachs the most exciting competitor in the event.

Enduro feature racing saw two heat races with Marty Meyers and Mike Payne winning their respective heats. The feature event saw Jimmy Naylor lead early with Marty Meyers close in tow. Meyers would lead most of the event as David Walker came thru the pack to finish second – but was DQ’d in post race action. That made Mike Payne runner-up with Naylor finishing third spot. Jacobee Deckman was fourth and Bryan Overfelt rounded out the top five.
